Woodford Theatre’s 34th season will kick-off with an outdoor performance of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) on September 10 and 11, 2021. The theatre is partnering with Equus Run Vineyards in Midway, KY and will be performing at the vineyard’s 1,400-seat outdoor amphitheater. Meredith Crutcher has been selected to direct to the piece. Interim Executive Director, Alex Maddox, was intrigued by the idea of getting back to the theatre’s roots. “Our theatre, like many others, have explored all sorts of creative ideas for reopening safely. Woodford Theatre began as an outdoor theatre in Midway when it was founded in 1988. We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Equus Run for this production.” The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) follows three performers as they weave their way through all 37 of Shakespeare’s comedies, histories, and tragedies in just 97 minutes. This fast-paced romp is sure to leave audiences breathless and helpless with laughter.
Woodford Theatre will return to performing on their stage in Versailles later this year. In December, the theatre will present a musical production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. The production will run for three full weekends, December 3-19, 2021. Austin Vahle is set to direct, with music direction by Alyssa Sturgill and Clifton Grimm. The couple decides to play matchmaker for her mother and their neighbor-in-the-attic, Velasco, where everything that can go wrong does.
