Are you ready?
The Kentucky State Fair runs August 19 -29, 2021 in Louisville? Are you ready? Have you submitted your photographs or made arrangements to enter your crafts, livestock, food or desserts, vegetables or fruits,or honey, your wine or beer, been practicing to be in the talent contest or to otherwise participate in this year's celebration of the many talented and hardworking Kentuckians who are competing or exhibiting at this year's fair?
I'm a late bloomer when it comes to the Fair. My first participation in the event was in 2012 when I produced the winning plays for what would become the Kentucky New Play Series. It wasn't until 2019 that I entered my first photographs in the fair; none of them won, though after viewing the winners I certainly understood why.
After skipping last year's event because of Covid, I entered this year's fair with two photos. One was a blue ribbon winner at this year's Clark County Fair and Horse Show. Below is the third photo entered in the local fair; it was a red ribbon winner. However, since I could only enter two photos this one is appearing here.
The photo is of a work in glass called "Spilt Milk" by Eliot Walker. It is on display at the Corning Museum of Glass Corning, NY
